Hey guys! What's up, it Mishty and welcome back to my blogging page, Today I am going to show you how to make an easy and healthy recipe, Iskcon Khichdi. Have you ever had Isckon Khichdi? if not, then here is the recipe! I visited Isckon temple some time back, it is calm and very peaceful, I had a very different feeling when I went there, and most importantly the prasad was so aromatic and so tasty, then it immediately came to my mind that I should make this recipe, so without further ado, I present to you, how to make: Isckon Khichd

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup yellow moong daal
  • 1/2 cup chana daal
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • Vegetables of your choice, I am taking-
  • half capsicum
  • few florets of cauliflower
  • 1/4th cup bottle gourd
  • some chopped coriander leaves
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 litres of water
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1-star anise
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Haldi/ turmeric powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 2 tablespoons of ghee
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida

Instructions:
Rinse the yellow moong daal, chana daal, rice and soak it for about 1 hour. Till then cut the vegetables of your choice, I am using half capsicum, few florets of cauliflower,1/4th cup bottle gourd, some chopped coriander leaves, and few curry leaves. Now after all the daals are soaked, in a big pot add 2 litres of water and then add- 1 tablespoon of ghee and the chana daal in it. Then mix it well. Then add the soaked moong daal, rice and all the vegetables except coriander leaves and curry leaves and mix it well again. Then add 1-star anise, 4-5 cloves and 1 black cardamom and mix it once more. Then add all the spices as mentioned above (including salt as per taste) and mix it and let it cook for about 30-40 minutes. Now in 2 tablespoons of ghee, add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 2 tablespoons of fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder, 1 teaspoon asafoetida, few curry leaves and add a tadka to it. Finally, after the Khichdi is ready add it to a pot and put the seasoning/ tadka on top of it. It's ready!! Enjoy your delicious and healthy Isckon Khichdi.
